Hinton Named Interim Executive Director
Clinical Director promoted from within as Board conducts search for next Executive Director.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — September 9, 2026 — Oasis Counseling for Women & Children has named Shenitha Hinton as Interim Executive Director, following the retirement of longtime Executive Director Kathryn Bowden.
Hinton has been on the Oasis staff since 2018, when she joined the organization as a counseling intern. She became a fully licensed therapist (LPC) in 2019 and was promoted to Clinical Director in 2021, providing leadership and oversight for Oasis’ clinical programs and counseling team.
“Shenitha brings strong clinical leadership and a deep understanding of Oasis, our staff, our clients and the community we serve,” said Marsha Morgan, President of the Oasis Board of Directors. “Having grown professionally within Oasis, she knows our mission from the inside out. The Board has every confidence in her ability to provide strong, steady leadership during this transition.”
As Interim Executive Director, Hinton will oversee day-to-day operations and work closely with the Board and staff to ensure organizational stability and continuity of care.
“I am honored to continue serving Oasis in this new capacity and grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me,” Hinton said. “For me, it has always been about serving those who are most vulnerable, and I have seen firsthand the difference this organization makes. Hinton succeeds Bowden, who recently retired after more than 21 years as Executive Director. Bowden will remain available as an advisor during the leadership transition.
The Board has engaged AMJ HR Solutions, a local experienced executive search firm, to conduct a thoughtful and intentional search for Oasis’ next Executive Director. The process will focus on identifying a leader who embraces Oasis’ mission and can build upon its strong foundation while guiding the organization into its next chapter.
