Luciana C. Silva, PhD, LMFT – Clinical Director

is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She earned her Master of Science and her Doctorate of Philosophy degrees in Child and Family Development (specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy) from the University of Georgia. Dr. Silva joined Oasis as Clinical Director in 2019. Dr. Silva has a wide-range of professional experience in mental health and family therapy. She came to Oasis after fifteen years of experience in various nonprofit settings and collegiate mental health. Her clinical work focuses on trauma, addiction recovery, and family systems. She has advanced clinical training in Bowen Family Systems Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and other evidence-based practices. She is an AAMFT Approved Clinical Supervisor and has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses on various topics in mental health and family therapy. Additionally, she has interest and experience in program evaluation, project management, and qualitative research. She currently sits on the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy.


Patty Cusick is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Patty received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Montevallo. She has experience working with diverse populations and age groups within the mental health field, especially adolescents. Patty has extensive experience with crisis intervention and suicide prevention. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society of professional counseling.

Cathy Foss is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. Cathy received her Master’s and her Education Specialist Degrees in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Cathy specializes in Play Therapy with a focus on childhood problems such as sexual/physical abuse, trauma, anxiety, attachment disorders and anger management. Cathy also provides individual counseling to adolescents and women.

Allison Hill is an Associate Licensed Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has experience working with children and adolescents addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, trauma, and anger management. Allison has specific clinical interests in trauma, anxiety, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Allison practices an integrative, affirming approach to counseling, incorporating play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems, and strengths-based approaches. She is excited to be joining the Oasis team and looks forward to serving children and their families.

Shenitha Hinton is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor.  She serves as Intake Coordinator and provides individual counseling individual counseling to adult women for issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and coping skills for managing life transitions. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Faulkner University in Montgomery. She is passionate about helping women heal and become more self-aware and has a special interest in eradicating mental health stigmas. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association, Alabama Counseling Association, Kappa Delta Pi honor society in Education and The Golden Key international honor society. Shenitha continuously seeks out training opportunities in order to stay current with the latest developments, skills, and new technologies in mental health treatment especially as they relate to diverse populations.

Kathy King is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Kathy received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She has completed the Accredited Training for Adoption Competency through the Center for Adoption Support and Education.  Kathy is honored to serve as a counselor in the adult program with Oasis and has experience working with adults and adolescents. Special interests include adoption, grief and loss, anxiety and depression.

Alexandra Lamb is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Alexandra received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama, and her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University, in Nashville, TN. Alexandra’s areas of special clinical interest include children, adolescents, and couples. She has experience working with individuals of all ages walking through issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment, attention-deficit, anger, and adjustment. She practices an evidence-based approach to therapy that includes play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy. Alexandra is honored to be working with Oasis, and is passionate and grateful for every opportunity she has to join in the healing process of others.

Leah Riley is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a graduate of the University of Montevallo, and received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Leah serves as a counselor for adult women. She has experience working with women of all ages walking through grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and crisis. She has extensive background in working with women struggling with eating disorders and other co-morbid disorders.

Alisha Sullen is an Associate Licensed Counselor. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of West Florida and her Master’s Degree in Experimental/Clinical Psychology from the University of West Alabama. Alisha is passionate about healing transgenerational trauma, increasing and promoting mental health awareness among under-resourced communities, and cultural humility. She has experience helping diverse populations and age groups with anger management, anxiety, depression, grief, and complex trauma. Alisha uses an evidence-based approach to therapy that includes person-centered and rational-emotive behavior therapies. Alisha enjoys art, reading, jazz, and a good cup of tea.

Emily Wells is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker – Supervisor. Emily received her Bachelor of Social Work at Mississippi College and is proud to have graduated with the first cohort of students from Samford University’s Master of Social Work Program.  After spending several years as a social worker in the community and a variety of healthcare settings, Emily is now an adult programs therapist at Oasis Counseling for Women and Children and is thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside the women of our community as they navigate their individual journeys. Emily enjoys working with patients who are experiencing acute and chronic illnesses; as well as loved ones and caregivers. Other clinical interests include crisis; adjustment disorders; sleep and wake concerns; along with issues of death, dying and grief.
